End of the Year Work in Geometry and Personal Finance!

This was our chart from a discussion we had based on Purchasing a Home.

In Geometry, we talked about CPCTC (corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent). We can find an example of CPCTC in an equilateral octagon. There sides that are parallel, sides that are equal. The octagon (as drawn) looks like a bike with spokes. All of the spokes are congruent. The triangles are isosceles. We also found the value of

Last Week and This Week in Geometry!

Last week, we discussed RCAT, RSSIAT, RAIAT and RAEAT. We also discussed perpendicular bisectors. Here are some pictures and a video of what we did:

Can you solve this proof?

This Week in Personal Business and Finance!

Here is a video talking the basics of auto insurance. This is important in this state; Michigan is a state that requires auto insurance .. or you could be arrested for driving without one.

Purchasing a Car

Here is a video about car comparison shopping. It is pretty good. Can you describe how to compare automobiles for a buyer?

In class, we will be selecting cars for our final project presentation.

A Quick Review Before Break! Next Monday ... We Are Moving Forward!

In Personal Finance Class...here are some notes about bankruptcy from the video below.

Here are some notes from Geometry ... SSIAT, AIAT, AEAT, CAT, linear pair and vertex angles.

Most of your city streets and avenues mirror transversals and parallel lines. Above is a main intersection of Clinton Township near the high school.

Here is an extra credit assignment for over break. It is due on Tuesday.

Here is some student work, M. S. Great job!

This Week in Geometry!

Proof writing ... Yeah!
Remember the first line of every proof is the 'given' portion.

Linear pairs, Vertex Angles, CAT, SSIAT, AIAT and AEAT...
more pictures to come.

This Week in Geometry Class.

We are talking about CPCFC - Corresponding Parts of Congruent Figures are Congruent.

Later we will be talking about proofs and AAP (angle addition postulate, again).

Wednesday Recap and Thursday Practice

This is yesterday's performance task. It involved multiple rigid transformations. The green question is interesting. See if you can determined that answer for that one.

Today, we worked on reviewed material that we have learned so far. We applied the information to a figure:

Here are some true statements that students came up with.

This Week in Geometry!

We described different transformations.

Here are examples of Rigid Transformations ...

After comparing Rigid and Non Rigid Transformations, we determined ...

Here are some examples of rules that correlate to specific transformations ...

Notes from this Week in Geometry!

Below is an example of proof writing:

Below is an example of applying the distance formula:

Below are examples SAP problems. Remember on the test the three letters will spell out a word.

Below is an example of AAP. The setup is half of the points for the problem.

Below is an example of a translation and its rule (vector).

This Week in Geometry

In hours 1, 4 and 5, we are reviewing for the retake. Here are some pictures to help out with the review:

Angle Addition Postulate is similar to Segment Addition Postulate.

Personal Finance Class

We are watching "Catch Me If You Can" with Leo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. The real life story of Frank W Abagnale Jr. and his notoriety as a result of check fraud.

Review Notes for Thursday's Test!

There will be 10 questions on the test. The topic covered are in red. The problems are in black. The answers are in green.

The image below describes Ps and Qs.

This is a reflection over y = x. Look at the rule.

In dealing with reflections, it is important to identify the rule and label the reflection properly.

Personal Finance during HC Week ...

This week we talked about Bookkeeping.

We are looking at our monthly expenditures and monthly sources of income. We are planning to budget for the new year.
