Notes for Honors Geometry

Today in class we reviewed the unit circle and its connection to sine, cosine, and tangent.

Here is a picture of the board notes from class:

Here are some review problems for the quiz tomorrow:

Think carefully on how to get the answer, you have all the facts you need to solve the problems.

The Week Before Memorial Day ....

In Honors Geometry ... we will be transitioning on to trigonometry: sine, cosine, and tangent. These trigonometric concepts can be applied to right triangles. We will wrap up our exploration on Monday of 45 90 45 and 30 60 90 right triangles. More videos to come.

In Algebra ... we will continue graphing systems of linear inequalities and exploring the real world scenarios involving them. For example, here is one:

Jeremy is an artist who creates sculptures and draws paintings. For an upcoming arts festival Jeremy wants to create some sculptures and paintings and needs to determine how many sculptures and paintings he will have ready for the festival. Jeremy figures that each sculpture would take him 30 hours to create and each painting would take 15 hours. For the festival Jeremy wants to have at least 5 sculptures and 6 paintings to display. If Jeremy has 300 hours of work time available, which of the following systems of linear inequalities can help him determine how many sculptures and paintings he will have for the festival?

What do you think the answer will be?

From Friday in class, we practiced graphing. We will do more on Monday.

Here are the practice problems we did in class.

This Week in Honors Geometry ...

Special Right Triangles ....

For Homework, look for where you would find a 30 60 90 triangle or a 45 90 45 triangle. Write it down on a sticky note when given to you in class.

This week in Algebra ...

Compound Inequalities ...

This week we are talking about compound inequalities and absolute value inequalities. Here are some notes from class.

Here is a video on absolute value inequalities.

Try these four problems, bring them in ..... credit goes to the person that can show the work on the board when called upon.

This week in Algebra...

Last week, we reviewed this material from sixth grade:

Today we will learn the following:

This Week in Honors Geometry ...

This week, we learned about similar triangles.

With all of these similarities, here is a couple of videos to explain it. There will not be a computer lab tomorrow. There will be a quiz.

SSA Similarity involves trigonometry. We will officially start learning more of that next chapter.

Please remember that next Tuesday is the last day to bring in a shoebox for a project.
