Review Notes for Algebra Mid Term

In the first portion, can you describe the graph of A and the graph of B. In the sister's race, can you describe what Julia, Angie, Cathy and Elena are doing? Who won the race? Who is the fastest?

In the second portion, Order of Operations. Do you remember PEMDAS?

In the third portion, solving linear equations. Do you remember terms like 'opposite' and CLT?
Do you remember how to check your work with the graphing calculator?

In the final portion, Domain and Range (D/R) needs to be solved.

We will begin reviewing for midterms on Thursday. In Algebra, here is the material to review:
Chapter 1

  • A Preview of Graphs and Functions
  • Variables and Patterns
  • Order of Operations
  • Real Number Properties
  • Combining Like Terms

Chapter 3

  • Solving One Step Equations
  • Solving Double Step Equations
  • Solving Multi Step Equations
  • Word Problems
    • Consecutive Numbers
    • Formulas

Chapter 5

  • The Coordinate Plane
  • Relations
  • Equations
  • Functions
  • Writing Linear Equations

From Last Week!

In Algebra .... It is linear or not linear.

1 - Not linear. The degree on x will be -1, after you solve for y.
2 - Not linear. The degree on x will be .5, after you solve for y.
3 - Linear. It is a straight line.
4 - Linear. Solve for y. The degree is one.
5 - Linear. Solve for y. The degree is one.
6. Linear. Solve for y. The degree is one.

Graph these problems. Let x be 0, find y. Let y be 0, find x. If needed, find a third point.

2017, New Year ... New Attitude!

In Algebra, we are starting Chapter 5 - Writing Linear Equations. We just did a 'padlet' on the ten vocab words of this chapter. They will be posted tomorrow.

Here is some homework due on Monday. Find the domain and range of the following problems #26 - 31:

For Project Grade/Extra Credit: Write down in paragraph form - three different times in which you used math over the holiday break. Use paper or email it to me in a google document.
