Here are some notes on Algebraic proofs.

Here are some Ps and Qs for Geometry Class:
Here is a video on Law of Detachment and Law of Syllogism:

Honors Geometry ... we are proof writing on CAT, AEAT, AIAT and SSIAT. Now, we are doing RCAT, RAEAT, RAIAT and RSSIAT.

This Week and Next Week!!

Geometry Students ... We are covering Inductive and Deductive Reasoning.

Inductive Reasoning is defined as 'based on the given evidence, one can conclude ...'

If a person is the president, then that person is commander and chief of the army.
Justin Trudeau is president of Canada. Justin Trudeau is commander and chief of the army.

Deductive Reasoning is defined as 'based on a situation, one can conclude that ....; based on that conclusion, one can also conclude that ...., and so on.'

If a person is a teacher, then that person creates tests. If a person creates tests, than that person grades those tests.

Mr. Wade is a teacher. Mr. Wade grades tests.

We also will be discussing counterexamples, murder cases and work on a comic project. The rubric will be posted online; it will be due after break.

Honors Geometry Students ... We are discussing Parallel Lines and Transversals. There are several theorems involved with parallel lines and transversals: SSIAT, CAT, AEAT and AIAT.

I will post student work tomorrow. The next assessment is a test on Dec 15; it might be a group test - the groups are of my choosing.

Quarter 2 Begins this week ....

In Geometry ... we are starting Geometry! This week is an introduction to Geometry terms.

POINTS
LINES
PLANES
SPACE
I will post some student work tomorrow! Examples of figures that are usually drawn in a 2D world, will be brought into a 3D world.

In Honors Geometry ... we are discussing CPCFC (corresponding parts of congruent figures are congruent).

The important thing to remember is 🔺ABC =🔺DEF means AB = DE, BC = EF, AC = DF,

Post Halloween Math Fun!!

Geometry Students ... Wednesday - Friday after school... last days to make up work. No exceptions!

Here is the schedule from Thursday until test time on November 9th.

Honors Geometry Students ...Wednesday - Friday after school... last days to make up work. No exceptions!

Here is the schedule from Thursday until test time on November 9th.

Here is an interesting topic covered in the warm up today in Honors Geometry:

We were able to generate an equation from the table. The students noticed that as the number of sides increased, the angle of rotation decreased.

Pre Halloween Week!

There is a quiz in Geometry on Adding and Multiplying Polynomials later this week.

Here is a video on multiplying polynomials.

This in week in Geometry!!

This week we setup our binders. The binders must have dividers, labeled: Notes from Q1, Graded Assessments from Q1, Notes from Q2, Graded Assessments from Q2, Graphic Organizers.

In Geometry:
We are also reviewing Multiplying Polynomials: 1) Monomial (Monomial), 2) Monomial (Binomial, 3) Monomial (Polynomial).

Here is a video about the above information:
https://youtu.be/qi6ERARVGVI

Remember to do you homework at: my.hrw.com. The assigned work is due November 5. No exceptions!

In Honors Geometry:
We are talking about transformations. Last week was translations. This week we are talking about reflections.

(x, y)  then (x, -y) is a x axis reflection.
(x, y) then (-x, y) is a y axis reflection.
(x, y) then (y, x) is a y = x reflection.
(x, y) then (-y, -x) is a y = -x reflection.

Honors Geometry!

This week are going over one kind of transformation: TRANSLATION

Translations are "sliding over' the page.

Here is a video to explain.

This Week in Geometry!

Geometry Class - Review of Adding Polynomials and Systems of Inequalities

Remember that you can only add like things together!

When figuring out system of equations (inequalities) problems, it is important to know:
1) what your variables stand for
2) create two equations (inequalities)
3) use your graphing calculator, "y = "
4) graph it; look for an intersection
5) press 2nd, Trace, #5, press Enter x3

People preparing for exam 1 retake (solving linear equations, writing linear expressions, S.T.E.G., S.T.E.G. 2,  and vocabulary words):

The vocabulary words are: graph, story, table, equation, x intercept,
y intercept, domain, range, graphing calculator, coordinate plane,
and slope.

Honors Geometry - Proof Writing

No likes proof writing...but it is necessary.
Time to brush up on your lawyer skills.
Later, we are going to solve a court case.

These are Algebraic proofs. We will solve so Geometry proofs soon enough.

STEG 2.0

STEG 2.0 involves exploring a systems of linear equations. What situation is best to express a story:  a table, a graph or an equation?

Superman and Butter Pecan Ice Cream is coming up!

Things This Week in AGA2 Class!

We are working on STEG (Story Table Equation Graph) problems.

My first hour group did this problem:
Luci donates her hair to cancer survivors.
In twelve months, Luci has grown 7 inches of hair.
In the first month, Luci had 1.5 inches of hair.
Use STEG to express this problem in different ways.

Can you figure out how they did this?

Another first hour group did this problem. They were given a table.

x = miles                       y = dollars
0                              13
2                              16
3                          17.50
10                               28
Use STEG to express this problem in different ways.

Yeah Honors Geometry - Reasoning and Proof!

Here are some notes from today's class:

Think of some generic examples and specific examples for class tomorrow.

In the coming week, STEG!

STEG is an acronym that stands for "story, table, equation, graph". These are the different ways to represent Algebra. We are going to practice this for the next two weeks.

Our Amphibious Project is involved with STEG.

First Hour - Starfish
Second Hour - Stingray
Fourth Hour - Dinosaur
Fifth Hour - Octopus

We will be recording the lengths of the objects each day; this is the table portion.
Next week will do the graph portion. For the last two weeks, we have been practicing the story (interpreting) and equation (creating and solving).

It is a NEW SCHOOL YEAR!!

During the first week of the new school year, we went over the syllabus and reviewed how to solve linear equations.

Next week, we are going to do some work problems involving linear equations - in preparation for the Junior year exam.

Here is a special treat... these problems were worked out by my honors class.

The final will have 50 questions, multiple choice. Study well, good luck!

Monday, June 11, 2018

Review Day 4: Area and Perimeter of Quadrilaterals!

The first one is from last week - SOHCAHTOA.
 Can you solve these?

Friday, June 8, 2018

Review Day 3: TPT, Geometric Mean, Trigonometry

Here are some review problems for over the weekend:

Review Day 2: Quadrilaterals and Parallelograms

Here are some review problems that we did in class yesterday.
