The Final School Week in 2015!

In Algebra, we are preparing for the chapter 3 test again!

Here are some videos to review the material.

The one below is very important. Fractions in linear equations!

In Honors Geometry, we are reviewing parallel and perpendicular theorems.

We also did some problems. Here is the work to show that angles are congruent, if you are told that lines are parallel.

Here you must show work to see if lines are parallel based off the fact that linear pairs are supplementary or that alternate interior angles are congruent in specific cases.

Based on several theorems, we can find the angle measures.

An opportunity for EXCR!

If you are an Algebra student, for extra credit, create a vocabulary worksheet involving the blue words. It is due by December 17, 2015.

If you are a Geometry student for extra credit, create a vocabulary worksheet involving the red words. It is due by December 17, 2015.

Geometry Time!

This week in Geometry we are covering parallel lines and how to prove certain angles are congruent. Here is an example ...

In class we have proven AIAT (alternate interior angle theorem), AEAT (alternate exterior angle theorem) and CAT (corresponding angle theorem).

Algebra Time!

This week we are doing an extensive review of linear equations. How to solve them algebraically ...

Here is a picture on how to solve it graphically...

Homecoming is Over! Mathematics Resumes!

Next Monday is the chapter one test in Honors Geometry. Here are two sample tests to tryout over the weekend.

The answers will be posted on Sunday at 6 - 6:30 pm. They will be taken down at midnight.
If you have questions, I will be on my email at 6:20 pm until 8 pm.

Do not bother with questions #8 and #18 on either test. We didn't cover it in class, and therefore it will not be on the test come Monday.

A Quick Recap of the Week!

In Algebra Class, we discussed the Four Sisters. Based on the picture below, students had describe in detail what Alberta, Betsy, Carla and Dora did in the race. Students had to indicate who won the race and how do they know. Also, students had to indicate who was the fastest and why. Also, students had to indicate who was illegal in the race and why. Also, students had to indicate the order of the contestants in the race from 1st place, 2nd place, and so forth.

We also talked about the different properties of real numbers. To refresh your memories they are:

In Honors Geometry, we talked about exploring angles. Here are video-links that talks about the various angles:

Prep for the Retake Tomorrow!

In Algebra, we will practice translating algebraic expressions into English expressions, translating English expressions into algebraic expressions, order of operations, and creating graphs of distance vs time or speed vs time.

Here are the answers from today in Algebra Class.

Below are some additional problems to try for extra practice.

For the Honors Geometry Class, here are some additional practice homework problems to try. Bring them to class completed, if you have questions about something.

On the quiz will be measuring distance on a number line and a coordinate plane. Most people didn't have an issue with angle stuff. If  at least 75% percent of the class does this assignment tonight, there will not be any angle stuff on the quiz and no quiz next week.

1) On a number line, A = -9, B = -6, C = -5, D = -2, E = 1, F = 5, and G = 6. Find AE, EC, and CA.

2) If B is between A and C, find the value of x and the measure of BC.
AB = 3x + 21, BC = 2x -6, and AC = 50

3) Using the Pythagorean Theorem or Distance Formula, solve for AB and BE.

New School Year at Clintondale High School!

It's a new day for me. Back at Clintondale High School. I am teaching Algebra and Honors Geometry.

In Algebra, we have covered graphs, order of operations, and algebraic expressions.

In Geometry, we have covered points, lines, planes, measuring distances, and measuring angles.
