Circles ... Part 1

This week and the beginning of next week we are discussing CIRCLES.

We will learn about the unique relationship between the central angle and inscribed angle.

CENTRAL ANGLE = 2 (INSCRIBED ANGLE)

We will explore something else, inscribed quadrilaterals.

Application of TPT & Geometric Mean

In solving for a missing value, create a setup, then set up a proportion, then substitute the known values. Solve for x using Algebra.

Above are different examples of how similar triangles are used to solve for an unknown value.

Above and below are examples of Geometric Mean. It is used to find the distance of things. It is a different way to use a proportion.

Use the image below to solve the problem above.

TPT - Triangle Proportionality Theorem

TPT involves similarity and proportions. There are several setups: "part to part", "part to whole", "side to base", etc.
The hardest part is figuring out the setup. The rest is Algebra. Once the proportion is setup, you can clear fraction or cross multiply. Solve for the missing variable.
